Five ways to make the most of the holidays at the office

The holidays are coming up, which means that weekends are quickly filling up with shopping, decorating and parties. Whether you are already in the holiday spirit or feeling more like a Grinch this year, here are five ways to prepare for the holidays at the office this season.

Listen to holiday music.

With free music services such as Pandora and Spotify, it is easy to compile playlists with holiday music to lighten the mood while you work. Ear buds are suggested so that you don’t disturb your cube mates.

Host a cookie exchange.

Celebrating does not have to be contained to one company party. We are having a cookie exchange at Cookerly to sweeten the month. Each employee will bring two dozen cookies to trade and we will each end up with an assortment of cookies. We are all looking forward to Brittney’s  baked goods!

Have fun.

The holidays can be stressful, so it is important to have a bit of fun throughout the day. Upload pictures of your colleagues to create a fun video on Elf Yourself. It’s hard not to laugh when viewing a video from this holiday favorite.

While the end of the year is often hectic, take time to write handwritten notes to those you have worked with this year. Whether it is a client or an acquaintance, a handwritten note will leave a lasting impression.

Set goals.

As the year comes to a close, start to brainstorm professional and personal goals for 2012. Thinking about goals early will help you to determine a plan of action before the new year begins.
